He said as a result of the social justice movement led by Thanthai Periyar, the backward and oppressed sections of the society enjoy 69 per cent reservation now.``Brahmins have never been stumbling blocks in their path to progress.At the same time, the Brahmin Community believes in Periyar’s philosophy that every caste should get its due share proportionate to the population,’’ he said.

Federation of Brahmin Association of Southern Region (FEBAS) ,a newly floated outfit for the welfare of Brahmins, has urged the State government to provide seven per cent reservation for the community.The association was formally launched at a gala function in Chennai yesterday by dramatist and Mylapore MLA S V e Shekher, its founder- president.

CHENNAI: The Federation of Brahmin Associations of Southern Region (FEBAS) was launched at a function here on Saturday. Founded by S.Ve. Shekher, Member of Legislative Assembly, it urged the State government to provide seven per cent reservation for Brahmins.

The Brahmin community people in Tamil Nadu have contributed more, by way of promoting Tamil language, Music, Dance, Drama, Science, Math’s and other subjects. They have done wonderful job in promoting Tamil language, culture and Tamil grammar and also sacrificed their life for Indian Independence. By natural they are very simple people with great intelligence and devotion to God..
